Previously I helped establish Mixercast.com a media mashup and widget advertizing company based in Pune. Brought in by the company's VCs in Silicon Valley as the first employee I worked closely with the founder to hire the initial team, develop the software and establish the engineering culture.
In Silicon Valley, I worked in the Java group at Sun Microsystems for 3 years. After this my colleague Pavni Diwanji and I started our own company, Kendara Inc. which moved portal functionality into the browser. With good reputations and relationships into the venture community we received $7million in financing from Mohr Davidow Ventures and Redpoint Ventures (then IVP). We pulled together a stellar team of engineers and business people and in 2 years sold the company to the largest broadband internet provider at the time Excite@Home.
I have a long standing interest in the positive role the internet can play in education and sustainable living. Since selling Kendara I have engaged with a number of nonprofit organizations working in this direction such as The Digital Studyhall, Video Volunteers, Curriki and AirJaldi.
